While I am not a fan of getting my heart broken, I can't think of a better place in the world for it to happen than New York City. Since I moved here I have been in this unfortunate position more than once and as difficult as those times were I am glad I had my adopted home to help me through it. If you are like me you find beauty in this kind of pain. It helps define you, give you substance and make you a better person for going through it. I have never been the guy to talk it out with friends, or go and find a quick rebound to make love on and get my mind off it. I need to vent, and be invisible. New York City offers me that opportunity, with the scores of people walking around you can still always find a forgotten nook, usually on an off street with the cobblestone breaking through the 3rd or 4th coat of pavement, to walk and think alone in a crowd. There are more than enough watering holes to drown your sorry in self pity and bad decisions until you eventually come out of it. New York City slowly nurses you back to health and makes you stronger in the process. This album reminds me of these experiences, with the classical guitar plucking and the haunting vocals it is a perfect companion peice to help recapture the forlorn charm without having to have your existance shattered all over again.
